Adding a file doesn’t send its contents to our server. Your browser reads the file, runs the calculation and creates your report.
No exchange login. No wallet connection. No access to move your crypto.

Only the account essentials.
Your name, email and a protected password record. Signup, login and import activity includes the time, traffic source and number of files — never transaction contents or financial totals.
A useful report.
A clearer conversation.
Tax data for Australian taxation purposes, with purchase matches to review alongside your original records.
See which purchases are matched to each sale, starting with the oldest. This is called first in, first out (FIFO).
Explicitly classified rewards with an AUD value are reported separately from capital gains.

Is it really free?
Yes. The calculator, draft report and detailed CSV are currently free. No payment details are required. Future paid features may be introduced, but using the free calculator does not sign you up to a paid service.
Which files can I use?
Upload CoinSpot Buys/Sells and Sends/Receives exports in CSV format (.csv). CSV means comma-separated values: a transaction file you can download from your exchange. Include all available years up to your reporting year. For rewards with known AUD values or explicitly documented own-wallet transfers, use the activity template provided inside the calculator. Other exchanges, DeFi, NFTs and complex transactions are not supported.
Is all crypto activity a capital gain?
No. Selling crypto may produce a capital gain or loss. Staking rewards can also be ordinary income, valued when received. Moving assets between your own wallets usually does not change ownership. A plain receive entry does not tell us which of these applies, so it is flagged for review.
What should I know before relying on a report?
This is a limited release. Calculations have not been independently validated by a tax professional, and supported transaction types are limited. Treat results as draft records for your accountant to check against your original history. Missing records and unsupported transactions are flagged for review. Reports currently use Sydney time; confirm this convention with your accountant if another local timezone applies.
Does the calculator work out my final tax bill?
No. It prepares draft data from supported records. Capital losses, eligibility for discounts and your other tax circumstances need accountant review. The report does not calculate final tax payable, apply prior-year losses or lodge a return.
How can I get help?
Start with the file instructions inside the calculator or explore the sample report. You can also email the Crypto Calculator team at info@cryptocalculatorau.com for help. Please do not send passwords or transaction files by email.
Privacy and account information
We store your name, email, salted password hash and account timestamps. A secure session cookie keeps you logged in for up to seven days. Passwords are never emailed. Email ownership is not yet verified.
Transaction files and financial calculations stay in your browser memory. They are cleared when you close or reload the calculator. We record signup, login and import events, including time, broad traffic source and number of files, for up to 35 days. Account details remain until you delete your account from the calculator. Notifications may be sent to the operator through Resend when email is connected; they contain your name and email, with no transaction contents. Previously delivered emails cannot be recalled.
Optional anonymous usage counts help improve the calculator. Browser privacy signals and the calculator’s usage switch disable those counts; necessary account and security records still operate. Hosting infrastructure may process standard network logs. The site uses Cloudflare-backed hosting; provider processing may occur outside Australia. No advertising pixels are installed.
